This application uses SI System:mmol/L tocalculate the insulin units for diabetic injections. To accommodatepeople with different insulin requirements for different meals, this application contains four tabs labeled All Meals, Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner, making it easy and convenient to calculateinsulin units when the Carbohydrate Factor and/or Correction Factorvalues vary for different meals. If you have the same Carbohydrateand Correction factors for each meal, you can ignore the other tabsand use only the All Meals tab. If your insulin requirements changein the future, you can start using additional tabs by entering theappropriate blood glucose goal and factor values. The values for the three fields, Glucose Goal, Correction Factorand Carbohydrate Factor should be obtained from your medicalpractitioner. They are considered constants and will not changevery often. To enter or change values for the three fields, pressthe Edit button immediately below the fields, enter the valuesreceived from your medical practitioner and then press the Savebutton. If you have different Carbohydrate and Correction factorsfor different meals, enter the factor values in the appropriatetab(s). Each tab can contain different values. The values arestored in the application and will display the last saved value foreach tab everytime the application is used.Insulin units are calculated using the following formula:X = (Pre-Meal Glucose - Glucose Goal) / Correction FactorY = Meal Carbohydrates / Carbohydrate FactorInsulin Units = X + YThe Insulin Units are rounded using the following method basedupon hospital recommendations:.00 to .24 -->  Round down.25 to .74 -->  Round to .5 (1/2).75 to .99 -->  Round upFor example, any calculated value between 2.25 and 2.7499 willround to 2.5, and any calculated value between 2.75 and 3.2499 willround to 3.This application has been extensively tested and great care hasbeen taken to verify the accuracy of the calculations. In additionto the testing, it also has been used to calculate insulin unitsfor a diabetic family member. Even though it has been completelytested, Please verify the accuracy of the calculated insulin unitsbefore the first use of this application.

This application makes it very easytocalculate the insulin units for diabetic injections. Toaccommodatepeople with different insulin requirements for differentmeals, this application contains four tabs labeled All Meals,Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner, making it easy and convenient tocalculateinsulin units when the Carbohydrate Factor and/orCorrection Factorvalues vary for different meals. If you have thesame Carbohydrateand Correction factors for every meal, you canignore the othertabs and use only the All Meals tab. If yourinsulin requirementschange in the future, you can start usingadditional tabs byentering the appropriate blood sugar goal andfactor values. To calculate insulin units, enter the value of your currentbloodsugar and the number of carbohydrates contained in your meal.Pressthe Calculate button and the actual and rounded insulin unitswillbe displayed at the bottom of the screen.Insulin units are calculated using the following formula:((Pre-Meal Blood Sugar - Blood Sugar Goal) / Correction Factor)+(Meal Carbohydrates / Carbohydrate Factor)I wrote this app after my 8 year old granddaughter wasdiagnosedwith diabetes, with the goal of accuracy and ease of usein mind. The goal was reached because she uses it daily to calculateher owninsulin units. The units are double checked by an adult, buttheapp is simple enough for a child to use.
